I’m so excited to watch the Grammy awards on January 31, 2010 because my favorite band, Depeche Mode, picked up TWO Grammy nominations! Wouldn’t that be incredible if they were asked to perform? Depeche Mode formed in 1980 and released their first album Speak & Spell in 1981. They’re more popular in their native U.K., so it’s great news to see some acknowledgment in the U.S. They’ve been consistently churning out albums for nearly 30 years - I can hardly believe, as I type that number! Depeche Mode has a very strong following, but still fail to get the attention they deserve. Their first Grammy nomination was in 1995 for “Best Long Form Music Video,” and then again in 2006 with two nominations in the “Best Dance Recording.” They are nominated this time for “Best Alternative Music Album” for Sounds of the Universe and “Best Short Form Music Video” for the disturbing video for “Wrong.” I hope you win, Depeche Mode! I’ll be tuning in!!
